[i]cannedtomatos: week one complete

I survived the first week of classes. My reading list for this semester is more than a little daunting, but so far I seem to be doing okay. Today has been a total waste of time though. I thought I'd do some reading today, but I also need to take care of some non-school committments...like finishing the raffle basket for the teatre and whipping up another edition of the basket guild newsletter. And I need to call the booksotres re: advanced Anne punlicity. But mostly I just want to nap. I started feeling dizzy yesterday; a feeling which hasn't really gone away. I'm going to blame it on the medication, but this one hasn't ever given me issues before. hopefully things will be better tomorrow. one thing at a time, I guess.

oh, and a bunch of my books for school still haven't come in. so much for reading ahead.

[i]cannedtomatos: first day of school

my first class is filled with people i hate, but a teacher i heart and the wonderful Ms Cynthia. thank god it meets for one day a week for one hour. I should be able to stifle my murderous rage.

The second class I think i shall enjoy. it's being taught by the same guy who gave me an A this summer for beat lit. who came to my house for breakfast and gave us an oral group final exam.

the downside is that I ned to have the first hunk of the book read by Wednesday and a wee litle two page paper written. We couldn't get the book online (weird huh?) yeah, well neither ould the college book store 'cuz they have them on backorder.

Let the fun begin!

[i]cannedtomatos: Ceremony

i finished Ceremony on Saturday morning. i never really got into it, but i still enjoyed it  a lot. I usually reach a point where the story grabs me and i'm "in" and that never really happened here. Part of me wants to blame it on the stylized writing you get sometimes with native american writers, but Sherman Alexie sucks m in every time. This book has a sense of familiarity like I knew what was going to happen next. aLmost like I had heard th story before, which kind of adds to it's mystique a bit. I'm looking forward to discussing this one in class.

up next is Castle of Otantro. I started Invisible man as well, but i only have the reading list for that class and not the reading order, so I'm guessing it will be quickly set aside for the assigned reading. today is the first day of the last semester. the end is in sight.
